Seven Years. 100+ nonprofit and philanthropic partnerships. $47 million accelerated into communities in Washington, California, and Puerto Rico—and it’s only the beginning.
When I joined Magic Cabinet in 2019 as our very first program director, I was fresh off a career in tech, having stewarded several start-ups through the initial growth phase. Much of what I learned in the tech space revolved around collaboration, innovation, and shared decision-making—preparing me well to enter the world of philanthropy and steward a small, scrappy foundation through its early development.
Seven years in, what started as an experiment has morphed into something bigger and more special than I could have ever imagined. Through the power of a highly competent team and the many amazing partners we’ve met along the way, we’re showing what’s possible when philanthropy works as a trusted partner to communities.
I am grateful to Magic Cabinet’s Board for trusting me with the responsibility of stewarding this incredible organization, from our early engagement and cohort planning to completing our first strategic plan that will chart Magic Cabinet’s next chapter of growth. Together, we’ve taken smart risks and harnessed the trust, wisdom, and resilience of our partners to reach Magic Cabinet 1.0. But we’ve only begun to scratch the surface of what’s possible when nonprofits, funders, and communities work together to create meaningful change.
As Magic Cabinet steps into the next phase of its journey, it’s time for me to pass the torch. I’ll be stepping down as CEO at the end of 2025, and until then, I’ll continue working with our Board and staff to ensure the leadership transition is seamless and thoughtful.
Our Board is already planning for this new phase of leadership, and we’re confident that Magic Cabinet’s next CEO will have a strong connection to our mission and the communities we serve. We expect a deep engagement process with our Board, staff, and community partners over the coming months, and aim to announce a new CEO in 2026.
Magic Cabinet remains strong, vibrant, and ready for what’s next. Our commitment to our partners remains unwavering—we’ll continue walking alongside them with the same trust, curiosity, and boldness that have always defined us.
It has been an incredible journey, and one that I’ll carry with me always. We appreciate your ongoing support of Magic Cabinet and for continuing to shape the sector alongside us.
