Gabriela Lopez

Special Advisor to the COO

Gabriela Lopez is driven by a deep commitment to expanding access and creating pathways for underserved communities, grounded in the belief that opportunity should never be defined by circumstance. Born and raised in Mexico, she broke new ground at every level of her education: the first in her immediate and extended family to complete elementary school, the first to finish high school, and the first to earn a college degree. Her lived experience fuels a lifelong mission to break down barriers and help others navigate systems that too often feel inaccessible.

With over 16 years of experience in education, she has dedicated her career to connecting underserved students to the resources and institutions that can change their lives. Prior to joining Magic Cabinet, Gabriela was the Assistant Director of a federally funded TRIO program, where she supported student success initiatives and expanded access for historically underrepresented populations. In addition to her professional work, she currently serves on the board of the Education COMPACT of Escondido, a community-based organization that partners with schools, local agencies, and families to deliver programs focused on academic support, prevention and intervention, workforce development, and overall youth and family well-being. In every role, she has been committed to ensuring that support is not only available, but meaningful and transformative.

A proud graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, Gabriela carries forward a strong belief in education as a powerful force for generational change.

Outside of her work, Gabriela is a mom of two who draws strength and joy from spending time with her family. She finds inspiration in new experiences, meaningful connections, and is always ready for a road trip to find the best foodie spots (usually with good music and a coffee in hand).
